| Dear Families, Thank you for your participation and teamwork during our recent winter conferences. We hope you enjoyed your time reviewing your child’s progress and collaborating with our teachers, if you did attend a conference. All three elementary schools have been focusing this year on MTSS, which stands for multi-tiered systems of support. Tier 1 is the core academic instruction that all students receive. For example, our Tier 1 curriculum for English Language Arts includes Wit & Wisdom. Our Tier 1 curriculum for Mathematics includes Bridges and Number Corner. If our data collected through teacher observation and assessments like MAP and Acadience tells us that learning gaps exist for students, then classroom teachers refer a student to our MTSS team. At those meetings, the team looks at data and chooses Tier 2 small group or individual interventions to try to help close skill gaps. These interventions can occur inside or outside of the regular classroom, from a variety of educators including classroom teachers, intervention specialists, school counselors, and literacy support teachers. If you have concerns about your child’s academic progress, please ask your child’s classroom teachers if MTSS would be an appropriate next step. Thank you for your partnership! Winners of this round will go on to enter the National competition. Registration is now open and is completely free! You may register as an individual or as a small team.
