Dear Families,
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the elementary musical! As always, it was amazing. It is wonderful to see our kids on stage and witness all the great behind-the-scenes efforts to make these productions so fabulous.
As we wind down our school year, here are items to watch for:
Within the next week, PowerSchool will send out an automated message to complete the Annual Student Verification form. This form needs to be completed for every student returning to Bexley City Schools next year. This is incredibly important information for us to have to plan for staffing and for your child's experience. We appreciate everyone completing this as soon as possible. This verification also keeps information coming your way across the summer and into next school year.
We plan to email your child’s teacher placement information on August 12th. It will be very important to ensure that your contact information is up to date in our PowerSchool system. Please verify this information when you get the notice over the next few weeks, to ensure that information continues to flow to you.
Sincerely,
Nyesha Clayton

ANNUAL STUDENT VERIFICATION FORM
Within the next week, PowerSchool will send out an automated message to complete the annual student verification form. This form needs to be completed for every student returning to Bexley City Schools next year. This is incredibly important information for us to have to plan for staffing and for your child's needs. We appreciate everyone completing this as soon as possible.
FOOD SERVICES INFORMATION
As of right now we are returning to fully paid meals next year.
Your students will access their student accounts to buy breakfast, lunch and snacks. To help them move quickly through the line we use Bio Metric Thumb Scanners. We will be scanning students' thumbs before the end of the school year to help smooth the transition to paid meals next fall. If you choose to opt out just email [email protected] and/or let your student's teacher know.
You can find details here at the top of the page.
The current Free or Reduced price meal application has not been released from the USDA yet. If you feel you may qualify please be on the lookout for communication from the district, near July 1st, 2022 with the application. We will also have it available on our Food Services website the moment it is released.
HEALTH UPDATE
Cases are on the rise in Central Ohio and around Ohio. Bexley rates of COVID-19 are currently 4x higher than one month ago and student and staff cases have increased as a result. We remain in a close working relationship with Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) to monitor active cases. Any students or staff members considered by FCPH to be in contact with a positive cluster have been notified.
SCHOOL SUPPLY ORDERS
Believe it or not, the time to order school supplies for the 2022-2023 school year is fast approaching. This is a service our PTO offers families. Click here to learn more about how to order. The last day to order is June 3.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM OUR TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT- PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Tech Plan Survey
At the end of this school year, we will have completed our third and final year of our Technology Plan. This process began with the completion of a 2017 survey given to students, staff, and parents. That data helped set goals in the areas of infrastructure, operations, and teaching and learning. Below is a summary of the results of our plan:
Teachers and students having mobile devices
Upgraded wireless network and increased network security
Hiring of a Technology Integration Coach
Creation of a public database of apps and services
Kicked off projects for new Helpdesk software and phone system
Deployment and commitment to assist families to secure Internet access at home
Curating and providing Digital Wellness resources for all families
This growth does not happen without a Technology Plan and the relationships we have with the Bexley Education Foundation and the Bexley Technology Advisory Group.
As we begin this journey towards our next Technology Plan, we are surveying parents/guardians, staff, and students in grades 4-12.
Click here to complete the Parent/Guardian Technology Plan Survey
Please complete this survey only once, and provide the best answer possible that represents all Bexley students in your household. Survey closes Tuesday, May 31st.
Important Student Device Information
As we prepare student devices for next year, I wanted to share with you key Summer information about your child’s Chromebook or iPad.
Any student who is returning next school year can keep their device over the Summer.
Any student who is not returning next school year needs to return their Chromebook or iPad to the building office before the end of the student’s last day
Current first grade students moving into second grade will exchange their iPad for a Chromebook later this Summer. Second grade students are assigned Chromebooks that were previously used by outgoing seniors, and we clean and prepare those devices over the Summer.
Incoming Kindergarten students will receive their iPads once the iPads returned by first grade families are cleaned and prepared by our technology staff (date to be announced).
If you have previously received a Wifi Hotspot due to lack of internet access at home, your student may continue to use this throughout the Summer. If this hotspot is no longer in use, please return this to the main office.
If you or anyone you know is looking for assistance with securing broadband Internet in the home, please use this link to apply for discounted or no-cost internet access. Please reach out if you have any other questions about this program.
Digital Wellness
Just a reminder that we have updated our Bexley Digital Wellness Website with new resources like understanding social apps, AirTags, screen time management, and a Digital Wellness video playlist.
FOR CURRENT 5th GRADE FAMILIES- SAVE THE DATE
Bexley Middle School will be hosting their 6th grade WEB orientation on August 16, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Click here for a Save the Date card.

The Montrose Fun Dash is back on Friday, May 27th at 2:15 p.m.
The Fun Dash is where Bexley High School seniors (Montrose sixth grade "graduates" from 2016) come back to briefly talk to our Montrose students about what they've done since they left elementary and what their post-high school plans are--and then all the kids, seniors and elementary kids, complete a short fun course around the south of the school. At the end of the course, all students will file onto the playground to receive their hard-earned reward of water and a treat.
The PTO will also be collecting donations for our Little Free Pantry to help to keep it stocked during the summer. So if able, please bring a shelf-stable item or two to donate. We will be collecting those at a table on the blacktop. Thank you in advance for being such a caring and generous community.
Reminders Fri. May 27, please:
1. Comfortable clothing and athletic shoes
2. If your schedule permits, come to the school at 2:15 to staff an intersection--and to cheer our kids on (this event has a marathon kind of vibe to it!); https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B4FAFAF23A02-2022
3. Bring an item for the Little Free Pantry for summer re-stocking.
Route Details:
Begins: On Remington by the Remington doors
Ends: On Montrose by the Montrose playground entrance
Grades K/1: Remington to Mound to Montrose
Grades 2/3: Remington to Astor to Montrose
Grades 4/5: Remington to Charles to Montrose
We will have an alternative option (cheering section) for our students who do not wish to participate in the dash.
