It’s 5:00 PM and the first day of the 2018-2019 school year is in the books! And what a great day it has been!

I had the pleasure of spending time in each of our five schools, and in each school, I saw smiles everywhere.   On the sidewalks entering our buildings, in the hallways, in the classrooms, in the cafeterias.  Those smiles are evidence of how each new year brings with it renewed energy and commitment to our students and their learning.  But this year is really special.

Our work this school year will be guided by a strategic plan, a Bexley Blueprint, that was developed with the input of students, staff, parents, and community members.  This new blueprint is designed to guide our decisions and allow us to stay focused on developing our students for success today and into the future.  

Our strategic plan builds upon a strong foundation of educational excellence that has been a  hallmark of Bexley education for generations.  Our plan recognizes that students have always been the center of the Bexley learning culture and that our community is not only supportive but wants to continue a history of partnership and collaboration.

But our plan also recognizes that we have opportunities to grow and identifies those areas where we will concentrate our efforts to embrace core values of improvement, inclusiveness, individuality, innovation, inquiry, integrity, and investment.   It is our commitment that we will provide educational experiences that engage, equip, and empower EACH student whom we are fortunate to educate.  Finally, it is our vision to offer an exceptional education for students both today and tomorrow. 

Our plan is aspirational, and our plan is bold.  But our students deserve no less than ambitious intent and actions that will help them to develop the knowledge, skills, and mindsets that will be needed in a world that is rapidly changing as a result of technology, especially artificial intelligence. And we can accomplish these goals in Bexley.  Why?  Because we are Bexley Bold!
