February 25-March 1 Updates

Cassingham eCubReporter for February 24, 2019

Cassingham Elementary students, staff and faculty will join schools across the country to Read Across America.   This annual event honors Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2) and allows us to show we are spirited readers.  The attached flyer came home with your child last week and outlines the fun (and completely optional!) ways we'll be celebrating our love of reading.  You might want to ask if your child has some crazy socks ready for tomorrow, or even sport some along with us!

While you're having a chat about Read Across America, please remind your child about the importance of honoring the plans you lay out for their afterschool choices.  As the hope of spring weather rises with the coming of March this week, sometimes students are tempted to make spur of the moment plans afterschool.  When those plans are not in line with your plans for them, challenges arise.  Mrs. Poczik, your child's teachers and I always ask that children honor the plans you have made for them, unless we hear directly from you that those plans have changed.

News from Mr. Landis, Physical Education

Students are experiencing track and field events in physical education.    In this unit, they will practice running and staying in lanes, looking straight ahead, and passing and receiving a baton in race situations.   Students will continue to work on improving their cardiovascular health by running and being as active as possible during classes.  Mr. Landis is looking forward to students using what they learn this month in the gym, on the track this spring.

News from Dr. Kuder, Library

Our Maker Space always needs a steady supply of recycled goods to inspire our young creative minds. Clean empty plastic containers, bottles and trays, cardboard boxes, and craft items are always welcome. Look for the Donations box in the library.
