Director of Curriculum and Gifted

Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
 

Description: Support the district’s educational mission and vision by developing and implementing the K-12 curriculum, managing data and assessment, and designing and implementing gifted services and programming to accomplish the district’s educational goals.
 

Supervises: Leader of Community Engagement and Experiential Learning


The below lists are not ranked in order of importance.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher in curriculum, philosophy of education, or the equivalent is preferred

  • Substantive teaching experience and administrative experience is required with recent professional development in best practices for curriculum development and teaching

  • Valid Ohio Administrative license and endorsement/credential as a Gifted Intervention Specialist

  • Such alternatives to the above as deemed by the Superintendent and the Board of Education


Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a resource for administrators and teachers in areas of curriculum and instruction and gifted education

  • Assist in the development, revision, and presentation of Board policies for the District  related to curriculum and gifted as directed by the Ohio Department of Education

  • Lead articulation, documentation, publication, and review of comprehensive, coherent K-12 curriculum

  • Oversee selection, acquisition, and management of instructional resources

  • Assist Principals in the implementation of RTI practices with fidelity and progress monitoring

  • Provide internal and external reports and presentations as requested

  • Coordinate with and foster coordination of all district K-12 programs

  • Serve as a communication link between all buildings K-12 as related to the identification and delivery of gifted services

  • Develop district-wide assessment plans for learning, facilitate data analysis review,  and make recommendations for curriculum and/or instructional modifications based on study and collaboration

  • Assist principals in the development and district coordination of classroom formative assessments

  • Coordinate state mandates of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee

  • Supervise and coordinate K-12 district, state-mandated, and national assessments in collaboration with other district departments as appropriate to the assessment

  • Coordinate student data in the district data warehouse

  • Receive, distribute, and collect testing materials throughout the year for the district and state testing programs

  • Train staff in appropriate district and state testing procedures and enforce security provisions

  • Demonstrate a focused understanding of the test security protocols and policies set forth by the district and monitor state testing procedures to ensure all regulations and rules are followed at the district level as outlined in the Ohio Rules Book

  • Resolves test administration scoring discrepancies

  • Collaborate with Student Services and English Language Learning Program designees on the implementation of assessments required by state and/or federal law

  • Supply materials and training for district-selected vendor assessments

  • Provide both internal and external reports and presentations related to student and district progress

  • Maintain familiarity with student and group test performance

  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., test scores, student/personal information

  • Other duties as assigned by Superintendent or her/his designee

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with student information systems 

  • Advanced computer skills in areas of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing

  • Basic first aid
     


Salary Range:
Commensurate with education and experience. Range: $108,214 - $139,328
