January 19, 2020

Dear parents and families,

This past week, we had our annual Spelling Bee at Montrose and WOW was it impressive!  Our second and third grade finalists spelled more than 80 words correctly, and our fourth and fifth graders made a record with spelling over 220 words correctly! For the first time in Montrose Spelling Bee history, our 4th and 5th graders went through the entire list of words which led us to a tie. Mr. Strait will be holding a spell-off this week for the finalists of the 4th and 5th grade Spelling Bee. I couldn’t be more proud of all of our boys and girls who participated in the bee.  They were spectacular!

(We’ll be posting photos of the participants and winners in next week’s newsletter.)

Please remember that we will have no school on Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  There are many events going on around town to honor him, including:

Below is more news and information about Montrose.  Have a great rest of your weekend! Stay warm!

My best,

Melissa K-L
