BCSD School Board Introduces Dr. Dan Good as Interim Superintendent

Dr. Good to lead schools through the remainder of the school year

Bexley, OH -- The Bexley City School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Dan Good as interim superintendent. The board unanimously approved his interim contract during the Tuesday, October 6 board meeting, and he begins his role immediately.

“I appreciate the board’s nomination to serve as the Interim Superintendent of Bexley City Schools,” said Dr. Good. “As a former resident, I am excited to come back to Bexley. Together, we will continue the work the board, staff, students, and community have already begun this year. Bexley City Schools is well-known as a high-performing district with a highly qualified staff that delivers on the district’s legacy of providing excellent educational opportunities for students. I am looking forward to being part of the team and the Bexley City Schools’ legacy this year.”

Dr. Good has more than 35 years of experience as an educator and leader. He previously served as superintendent of Columbus City Schools, Westerville City Schools, and Wooster City Schools. Currently, Dr. Good is the Associate Superintendent at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, which supports school districts and educators throughout the Central Ohio region.

“Dr. Good is an experienced leader who will provide the day-to-day steadiness that our schools require” said Marlee Snowdon, president of the board of education. “He knows our community and he understands the high expectations that we have and the work ahead as we support our students, teachers, and staff this very unique school year.”

During the meeting, the Bexley Board of Education also formally accepted Superintendent Kimberly Pietsch Miller’s resignation. Dr. Miller previously announced her move to serve as superintendent and CEO of the Eastland Fairfield Career and Technical Schools. She served as superintendent in Bexley for three years.

“I am very proud of the work we have accomplished together,” said Dr. Miller. “In just three years we have developed and implemented a strategic plan, aligned our instruction around key goals, developed the Bexley Learner Profile, reorganized our structure to be more flexible and responsive, implemented instructional coaches, passed a levy, significantly improved our access to and implementation of instructional technology, developed a comprehensive tech plan to implement an expansive 1:1 program with the support of the Bexley Education Foundation, and opened the important conversations of mental health and racial inequities. It has been my pleasure to serve.”

“We are grateful for Dr. Miller’s service and dedication to Bexley City Schools during the last three years,” said Snowdon. “There is no doubt our students and staff have benefitted from her leadership. We are looking forward to continuing the work she started as we engage, equip, and empower each student for success.”
