Bexley City Schools Announces Dr. Jason Fine as the District’s Next Superintendent

The Bexley City Schools Board of Education has named Dr. Jason Fine as their next Superintendent, effective July 1, 2021.  Dr. Fine is currently the Principal of Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington.

Dr. Fine emerged as the top choice to lead the Bexley schools following a national search and an in-depth interview process. Dr. Fine has been an educator since 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio University, a Masters in Education from Cambridge College, a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Salem International University, and a Doctorate in Education from Miami University.

“We look forward to welcoming Dr. Fine to Bexley,” said Marlee Snowdon, Bexley City Schools Board of Education President. “His enthusiastic and optimistic personality, demonstrated understanding of special education, and strong listening and communication skills are qualities we identified as important in our next superintendent.”

This announcement is the culmination of a comprehensive search conducted by the Board with the assistance of the search firm, Ray and Associates.  The process began with input and perspectives from students, parents, staff, and community members to help establish the qualities most highly desired in our next superintendent. Those qualities informed the decision-making throughout the process.

Following interviews and assessment of qualifications, three of the thirty-one candidates who completed applications were invited back to Bexley on May 4 for final interview sessions with the Board, stakeholder groups, and the community at large. Community engagement and feedback was requested and utilized by the board at multiple points throughout the process.

“The Board has no doubt that Dr. Fine is the candidate to lead the district forward,” Snowdon said. “He will work tirelessly with our district leadership team and staff, students and families, to continue progress toward our mission to provide educational experiences that engage, equip, and empower each student.”

“Earning the trust of the Board of Education to lead Bexley Schools is my great honor, and I am ready to partner with the community at large as we advocate for Bexley’s children, ” Dr. Fine said. “ I will focus on working collaboratively with staff, families, and community organizations in collectively advocating for each one of our children. Together, we will build upon current successes and expand them into every corner of our community so that each Bexley student benefits from extraordinary learning opportunities within and outside of our buildings.”

“We also want to thank all the stakeholder groups who participated in the superintendent search process,” Snowdon said. “We appreciate everyone who submitted questions and provided feedback following the stakeholder meetings. Your input was very valuable to the Board in making its decision. The Board also had high praise for the finalist candidates, all of whom were highly qualified. Selecting one individual for this important role was very difficult.”

Dr. Fine will begin transitioning to the district prior to the start of his contract, working closely with Dr. Dan Good, Interim Superintendent throughout that process, and will officially join the district full-time beginning July 1, 2021.
