Dear parents and families,

Halloween Week is upon us and it seems hard to believe but the weather last week certainly reminded us that fall is here! Virtual Halloween Parties and our all school Halloween Virtual Dance will be held Wednesday, October 28th from 2:20-3:00 p.m.
• Students are invited to Zoom in costume or other festive-wear for the classroom party from 2:20-2:40 p.m. using your child's classroom teacher's Zoom link.
• eLearning students are also invited to attend using the Zoom links from the teachers they had prior to E-Learning.
• Our Virtual Halloween Dance Party with DJ Strait will follow from 2:40-3:00 p.m. using this link: https://bit.ly/3meU1pw

Because of participant capacity limitations on Zoom, we ask that households and learning pods login to our dance with one shared device, where possible. Thank you!

Along with the leaves changing and falling comes colder weather. Because we want to get outside as much as possible, we ask you to please dress your child in layers and have them wear footwear that can withstand wet or dew on the grass. Please also remember to pack a towel, yoga mat, or sit upon for your child to sit on outside during learning time and lunch. Thank you!

Have a spooktacular week!

This is how we communicate about COVID-19 cases in our buildings:
  • Notification to quarantine: If your child has been "exposed" as a close contact to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, we will send an email to you with notification of the exposure.  This message will also express that quarantine should begin for your child.
  • Notification of positive case in a classroom: If your child is not determined to be "exposed" as a close contact, but was in a classroom where a student or staff member tested positive, you will receive an email notifying you of this. If you receive an email notifying you of a positive case within the classroom, there is no need to quarantine your child. We will expect your child to return to school.
  • Notification of positive case in school building: Parents and guardians will receive an email notification when a person in our school building tests positive for COVID-19.
When should siblings also quarantine?
  • When one of your children is symptomatic, their siblings should also quarantine and must stay home from school.
  • When a child is in quarantine due to an exposure (close contact to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19), they should isolate from household members as much as possible.
  • When a quarantined child does not have symptoms, their siblings can attend school.

SEEKING OUR STUDENTS' THOUGHTS ON NEW CHROMEBOOKS
With the distribution of the new Chromebooks almost complete (high schoolers get theirs next week), we're on a new path for learning! How is a school-issued device working for your child?  If you would like your child featured in a Bexley Education Foundation video talking about the 1:1 device program, it's easy to do and would be much appreciated! Just record your child (using a cell phone held horizontally) holding their device saying what she/he likes about the device, what she/he uses it for and/or how it helps with school work. Videos should be no more than 45 seconds in length (BEF reserves the right to edit) and should be sent to [email protected] is by October 30. Questions? Call the BEF office at (614) 338-2093. Thank you.

PACK AN INDOOR RECESS FUN BAG
FOR YOUR CHILD
When we have indoor recess due to inclement weather, your child is welcome to bring a Ziploc bag in their backpack with their own small personal toys to play
with while they are at indoor recess. The toys should
NOT be anything valuable. We have items for students
to use during indoor recess but having this individual
bag will be fun for them. Please make sure to label
the bag with your child's name. Items inside could include: legos, blocks, cards, cars, Rubik's cube,
miniature figurines, etc. Again, nothing valuable please
in the event it gets lost or misplaced. Thank you!

WORRY BUSTERS' STRESS GROUP FOR KIDS
Stress is a normal part of life and occasional anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. A certain amount of anxiety can be useful. Anxiety becomes a problem when it becomes overwhelming and gets worse over time. If you feel your child’s anxiety is getting in the way of their happiness or ability to do basic things then please consider enrolling your child in the Worry Buster Group (8-10 sessions) led by Mrs. Hipsley, Montrose School Counselor and Jordan Croft, Nationwide Children’s Hospital School Based Clinician. If interested please click here to receive the permission form to participate in the group. The group will take place on Z days: grades 1-3 from 11:20-11:50 a.m. and grades 4-5 from 11:50-12:20 p.m.
