A Letter From The Board
I hope this letter finds you and your family well even given the current COVID-19 environment. I cannot express enough my sincerest appreciation for the support, grit and grace shown by our community despite the very difficult decisions and realities with which we are currently living.

The board of education has asked me to give a brief update to the community on our search for a new superintendent.

As you recall, Dr. Miller informed us that she was departing for Eastland Fairfield Career Technical Center in September of 2020. With help from our partners at the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (which is a public entity designed to cost-effectively assist school districts with various programs and legal requirements), we were able to hire Dr. Dan Good as our interim superintendent. He joined us to assume Dr. Miller’s duties while the board spent time thoughtfully considering who should next lead our district.

As a board we were thrilled to have someone of Dr. Good’s caliber both because he could lead our ongoing pursuit to provide the best education possible to our students, and also because his experience and excellence as an educator provided us with a lens to thoughtfully evaluate the current state of our district. Dr. Good is a gifted collaborator, listener and observer of systems and personnel. We have greatly benefited from his hard work, insight, and leadership.

The fact remains, however, that Dr. Good is only an interim superintendent and this role is not intended to be long term. Dr. Good informed us that it was not his intention to turn his tenure into a permanent commitment. The state of Ohio mandates that it is the responsibility of the elected board of education to assess, select, and hire the superintendent on behalf of the community. This is a job we take very seriously.

I want to assure you that we have been focused on the essential task of finding a successor superintendent for months now and are employing every careful and creative avenue to accomplish our task. We have the benefit of a robust leadership profile developed through staff and community input from our previous superintendent search and feel confident that it will help us identify the best person to lead us in the future.

It is one of the highest priorities of this board to be as thoughtful and transparent as possible. Given the nature of personnel decisions, some information cannot always be shared immediately but we want our community to know that we are continuing to assess our current needs, strengths and challenges and will report as soon as we are able on how we intend to fill our superintendent position.

Again, thank you for your patience, perseverance, and support.

Best,
Marlee Snowdon
President
