Introducing the New Montrose Principal

We are excited to announce that Nyesha Clayton has been named the new principal at Montrose Elementary School. She was approved by the Bexley Board of Education during a special meeting on June 29, 2021.

Clayton has 20 years of experience in education, serving the last six years as an assistant principal at Waggoner Road Junior High School in Reynoldsburg. She is knowledgeable and passionate about curriculum and instruction, is empathy-focused, and has a relationship-centered approach. Clayton will be a great fit for the Montrose learning community.

The District asked our Montrose community to submit what characteristics they wanted in a principal and the priorities for Montrose over the next 3-5 years. The community was also asked to suggest questions that were considered to be used during the interview process.

BCSD had 30 applicants, 11 of whom had their application and a writing prompt reviewed by an applicant review team composed of staff, parents, and district leaders. Four candidates were selected to meet with over 30 staff and community members as well as a group of Montrose students. Two finalists were then recommended to Dr. Fine for an interview. At the end of the process, Clayton was identified as the top choice to become the Montrose Elementary Principal.

Thank you to our staff, students, and community for their input and participation in the process.

We are excited to welcome Nyesha Clayton to our Montrose family and the BCSD leadership team.
