June 6, 2021

Dear parents and families,

Wow, what a year! We had such wonderful celebrations this week to wrap up the school year including our Field Day/Fun For All games, an End-Of-The-Year virtual assembly, and a celebratory Clap Out on Thursday headed by Monty Moose and our retirees, Mrs. Erin Bailey and Mrs. Dina Williams.

I want to say a special thank you to you, our parents, for trusting us and sharing your children with us this school year. It was certainly an unconventional year but we had lots of fun and enjoyed each step of our journey together finding health and happiness. We are so proud of our students/your children and their huge progress and successes this school year!

As you likely know from our communication earlier this week, I have been selected to be the new Director of Employee Relations and Human Resources. This is very bittersweet for me as I have loved being the principal at Montrose and developing such wonderful relationships with you, your children, and our staff. I will miss them dearly on a daily basis but look forward to the new opportunity to grow with Bexley Schools and continue to be a part of Montrose in a new capacity.

As parents and families, you are encouraged to be involved in the screening process of finding our new Montrose Principal. The position was posted Thursday and will remain open until Sunday, June 13. Communication with more details on how to participate in the process will be sent out this week. The plan is to select the finalist by Friday, June 18, who will then be recommended to the Board for their approval at a previously scheduled special board meeting on Tuesday, June 29. Over the summer, I will work with the new principal to transition them into the position.

As I close, I wish you, your family, and your loved ones a very safe, wonderful, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. Please take care of yourselves and each other. I look forward to continuing to keep in touch and connecting with you.

My very best,
Melissa Klosterman-Lando

SUMMER RESOURCES
Carrie Corlew (Gifted Intervention Specialist at Montrose) and Jana Clarke (Literacy Coach) have created an awesome summer resources website for families: the Bexley Summer Resources site. We'd love for you to keep this resource in mind this summer. Ask your child to bookmark it on their device and check it frequently over the summer!
