August 26-30 Updates
August 25, 2019

Dear parents, families, and students,

One of my favorite pastimes is reading.  I have always enjoyed reading aloud to students and my own children.  Sometimes when leaders step away from the classroom and into administration, they aren’t afforded the daily opportunity to do the things they loved when they were a teacher.  I realized this during my first few years as an administrator. Since then, I vowed to stay involved with students and make a commitment to the things I loved about teaching. One of them is reading aloud to children.  Throughout the school year, I will record myself reading aloud. Feel free to share this with your child(ren). The book I chose for my first one at Montrose is titled, Be Kind, by Pat Zietlow Miller and illustrated by Jen Hill.  Enjoy! Click here (https://youtu.be/UysNXYfkAyE)

BUYING LUNCH AT SCHOOL?

Here’s an important reminder of our school lunch policy for the beginning of the school year. Every student can always get a complete Plate Lunch. The student’s account will still be charged, however, we will never turn a student away from a Plate Lunch if they do not have the money to pay for it. The district and the parent will discuss how it is paid for at a later date.

Students are unable to charge food items that are not a part of the Plate Lunch. Those items must be purchased with cash or debited from a positive balance on their meal account.

Students’ families must apply for free and reduced-price meals at Bexley City Schools. The application and information on how to apply are on our webpage. The application has a big red button. We can also directly certify students, where no application is necessary. Direct certification reports are conducted weekly at the start of the school year, and monthly afterwards. Email Julianna Carvi, Bexley Schools Food Service Director, with any questions. [email protected]
