2019 Summer Academy

2019 Bexley Summer Academy gives students many opportunities for fun, creativity, extra help and enrichment. Courses encourage innovation, independent initiative, leadership, and creativity. See a list of courses offered below and a list of Frequently Asked Questions.
 
Summer Academy programming runs throughout the summer based on scheduling of courses. Location of classes is Bexley High School, 326 South Cassingham Road, unless otherwise noted.

Summer Academy Courses

ACT Prep: May 31-June 7

Experienced ACT teacher Phil Schopick is again offering the Bexley Summer School ACT class. It runs weekdays from Friday, May 31 through Friday, June 7. For more information, contact Phil Schopick directly at 614 783 0381 or go to http://www.schopicktestprep.com/programs/

Don’t miss this opportunity to take a great prep class that ends just before the June 8 ACT. Enrollment is done directly through Mr. Schopick, not through the Bexley Schools website.­­ Registration for the ACT is separate from registration for this class.

Art in 4D: June 24-28

June 24-28, 9:00AM-12:00PM, Monday-Friday. This course will investigate the relationship between art and time with a specific focus on creating video and interactive art. While conceiving and creating artwork we will consider time as an essential component of the making process and viewing experience. Other considerations will include the relationship between art and the context of the historical time period in which it was created and the influences of society and technology. The week will culminate with a pop-up exhibition of the work created. Prerequisite: Students entering Grades 7 and 8.

AP Calculus AB Bootcamp: August 7-9

August 7-9, (Tuesday thru Thursday), 8:00AM-3:00PM. Each day consists of two 3-hour sessions Each session is filled with review, lectures, explorations, and previews of calculus topics.

AP US Bootcamp 2019: June 18-20

June 18-20 (Tuesday-Thursday), 1:00-3:30 PM. Students who are new to the AP experience and want to learn about the workload in APUSH, study strategies, test-taking skills, and how to be successful in an advance course are encourage to sign up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do high school student receive credit for summer courses?

High School students will receive full credit for summer school work as indicated. Summer Academy grades become part of the student's permanent record and are included in grade point average computation.

Is there financial assistance available?

Financial assistance is available only for students who were enrolled in Bexley City Schools during the 2018 - 2019 school year and received free/reduced lunch. Families meeting the criteria should register by contacting Summer School Director, Kristin Robbins at (614) 231-4591, extension 4189.

Can I get a refund?

Full refunds will be made in the following cases: 1) when a class is cancelled or closed; 2) when a registered student passed the course during the regular school year and presents a grade card; 3) or when a registered student withdraws before the start of Summer Academy.

Can non-Bexley residents attend courses?

Yes, but non-residents or those living outside the City of Bexley will pay 50% above the listed fees unless otherwise indicated.
