Championing Our Future, Bexley Schools’ 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, is the result of a year-long collaborative process and it shows in the thoughtfulness and careful construction of each word, goal, objective and priority. 

None of the work would have been possible without the input and feedback of hundreds of willing participants in the Bexley community and a dedicated group of diverse individuals who guided and led our subcommittees throughout the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you to all those who got involved and participated in the deliberations and discussions!

We are galvanized by our new mission statement: 

Learn with Curiosity. Demonstrate Kindness. Embrace Equity. 

These ideas form the core of who we are in Bexley City Schools, it is our DNA.

You’ll see this DNA metaphor woven throughout the Championing Our Future plan. 

We are committed to living these ideals of our mission in every action, every decision, every lesson, and every interaction. 

Our values further describe the elements of our DNA. 

Equity, Inclusion, Respect, Well-being, Empathy, Integrity and Responsibility are what make up our core. 

Growing and developing these traits help us to be the best version of our school system and ourselves and will guide us to Learn with Curiosity, Demonstrate Kindness and Embrace Equity. 

Once we know who we are and what we are capable of, we can begin to dream about what is yet to come. Our vision represents our community’s expectations, desires, and dreams for what we can become. These vision statements are aspirational and attainable. They help us “map our DNA,” offering hopeful guideposts toward Championing Our Future. 

Championing Our Future is made up of three focus areas: Culture, Teaching & Learning and Facilities. Each focus area has three goals and each goal has two advancement objectives that describe how the goals will be accomplished. Through an extensive process, it was determined that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) was so integral to our future that it must be integrated throughout the entire plan and thus has been thoughtfully woven into each focus area, goal, and advancement objective. 

As we launch this ambitious next stage for our district, our commitment to community voice and engagement is unwavering and ongoing. We will continue to share updates on the plan’s roll-out. 

There is important work ahead. It may be hard work, but it will be worth it because we will be Championing Our Future … together!
