The One Bexley Project

One Bexley Events

October 8, 2023
One Bexley hosted award-winning journalist and author Laura Meckler for a discussion about her book, "Dream Town: Shaker Heights and the Quest for Racial Equity." The discussion was hosted by Bexley community member Kumi Walker.

The Washington Post’s national education writer visited the Bexley Public Library on Sunday, October 8, to read from and discuss her new book Dream Town: Shaker Heights and the Quest for Racial Equity.

In Dream Town, Ms. Meckler asks, “Can a community of well-intentioned people fulfill the promise of racial integration in America?” Plan to attend to learn about the successes and roadblocks that Shaker Heights, Ohio has faced in working toward racial equity and how it might serve as a roadmap for communities like Bexley.
