Dear Families -
As we turn toward the final 5 weeks of the school year, our students (and their parents) start thinking about the next school year. This can include imagining which teacher they will have and which friends will be with them in class.
Here is a link that provides more information about the process at Montrose:

And finally, if your family is interested in enrolling a child in a terrific, local preschool for next school year, keep your eyes on district and school newsletters. We are expecting that there will be opportunities within our district’s program!

Just a reminder that as the weather gets warmer and more children are walking and riding to school, it is really important that they follow all safety rules. Please help your child remember to cross all streets at crosswalks and follow the safety rules they learned during Safety Town and Physical Education classes. Additionally, we expect children to honor the after-school plans you had for them when they arrived at school so that everyone knows what to expect at the end of the day. We give reminders at school too, but please talk to your child and emphasize how important it is that they stay safe. Thank you!
Map Assessments, K-5
Student’s spring Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments are scheduled between Monday, May 8- Friday, May 26th.
All elementary students will participate this spring.
Our kindergarten students will have their first MAP experience in the area of reading.
Students in 1- 5th grades are assessed in reading and math.
MAP is a computerized assessment that adapts to each student by giving items that are more or less difficult based upon the student’s performance within the assessment. Because students take this test three times across the school year, it provides us with a measurement of each child’s academic growth. Classroom teachers will share results from MAP with families as part of your child’s end of year materials.
Please be sure students bring their device charged and ready to use everyday and particularly for MAP days.
Kindergarten registration for next school year is open now. Bexley offers all-day kindergarten for all children who turn 5 years-old by August 1 of the year of enrollment. If you have a child who will attend kindergarten in the 2023-2024 school year, then you can begin their enrollment online now.
New and Used Gear Collection
Bexley HIgh School student, Eli Tyson, is accepting donations of used soccer gear to distribute to local children and teens in need; all ages and sizes. Most needed items are soccer balls, cleats, and shin guards. Jerseys, shorts, socks are also appreciated. These items can be in used or new condition. Donation boxes will be set up in the entryways of the high school, middle school, and all three elementary schools, through mid-May.
Montrose will not be a polling location this week
Montrose Elementary will not be needed as a polling place during the May 2nd election.
The Franklin County Board of Elections confirmed with school district officials that there are no Bexley-related issues or races on the May ballot. Consequently, Bexley voters will not have a May election.
Our school schedule and activities will not need to be adjusted on that day.
Fun Day is just around the corner!
We are in need of enthusiastic parent volunteers that are willing to donate their time to allow our students to have a fun and enjoyable end of school year experience. This year we are going back to our old format of having all grades participate on the same day. This year's Fun Day will take place on Thursday, May 25th. Our Rain Date is scheduled for Friday, May 26th.
The K-2 Fun Day will take place in the morning from 8am-11:30am. The 3-5 Fun Day will take place in the afternoon from 12pm-3:30pm. There is also an All Day option if you wish to volunteer for both time slots.
If you are interested in volunteering please select the desired grade level Fun Day and time slot. Also, with volunteering for the event, parents are required to fill out a Level 2 Parent Volunteer Form located in the Volunteer Handbook. All forms must be signed by Mrs. Clayton. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. The volunteer sign up link is below.
