Family Update

Dear Families -

It is hard to believe that we are already wrapping up the month of January and preparing for our winter conferences. Thursday, February 9th is a conference evening for 1st - 5th grades. This round of conferences is on an "as needed" basis. You may reach out to your student's teacher if you feel you need a conference. Staff are contacting families that we need to come in for a conference. Kindergarten will host conferences on the evening of March 2nd. The teachers will share sign-ups and further information through their newsletters or email.

Be on the lookout for a "super" packet of info coming home on Monday, 1.30, as well as other communications from the PTO.

Winter months can mean we are inside more than outside and that illnesses can spread quickly through a classroom. We want to remind families of some signs to consider if you are wondering if your child is well enough to go to school.  We know that a sick child is uncomfortable and unable to concentrate during the school day, additionally, sending an ill student to school puts other students and staff at risk.

Keep your child home if they..

Have a temperature of 100.0 or above. They may return to school when free of fever for 24 hours, without medicine.

Are vomiting or suffering from diarrhea needs to remain at home until symptom-free for 24 hours.

Are taking antibiotics for less than 24 hours.

Are complaining of headache, sore throat, cough, extreme fatigue, stomach ache, earache or an injury that is severe enough to decrease their ability to engage in class.

Have yellow or green drainage from their eye/s.

Have a rash of unknown cause.

If you have concerns that your child may have a communicable illness or may have been in contact with someone who is ill, please contact our clinic.

For an exhaustive list of these kinds of concerns, please check out this information on our Health Services page.

And please remember to contact the school office when your child is absent for any reason.

At the Bexley Library

TUESDAYS JANUARY 24 - FEBRUARY 28 4:30 - 5:15 PM: Page Pals program is being offered again this winter where students in grades K-3 can pair up with a teen volunteer and practice their reading skills with them.

Page Pals

Our MAP window has been extended and students will finish up this week.  We use the information MAP tests provide to inform the lessons teachers design and tailor instruction to student needs as a group and as individuals.  Classroom teachers will share results from MAP with families by sending the scores home with your child.   These may be a part of your child’s February conference conversations.

Please be sure students bring their device charged and ready to use everyday

and particularly for MAP days.
